How well can you run Fallout 4 on a RX 580 @ 720p, 1080p or 1440p on low, medium, high or max settings? This data is noisy because framerates depend on several factors but the averages can be used as a reasonable guide. Average FPS: 58.5 89 samples.
God Rays. I hate'em. I used to look forward to sunny days in FO4, when one could see for miles and not strain to see the floor in front of one's self. Back then, I could simply turn off God Rays in the launcher - had to do it for every session, but at least I could do it at will. And then, God Rays became mandatory. No longer did the game accept my pregame input. God Rays were unavoidable. All my graphics tweaks tossed out the window, vision reduced by 60% when facing in any direction other than directly away from the sun - a yellow grey haze enveloping everything - 1/8th inch blocks of white where shadow should be along the edges of my character.. so much for all those skimpy outfits. The game was rendered almost unplayable. Came to the Nexus, and found your fix. sigh.. it worked perfectly.. for 4 days. Suddenly, shortly after starting a new God Rays Free game, I round a corner, and.. oh my God Rays! I save the game while mumbling quietly, various curses that end in the 2 words 'God Rays'. I open my 2 edited game ini files, one at a time, and then open all the damn raptor ini copies, and every one of them are still just as I left them, with the two edited-lines still set to 0 and all the files are still set to Read Only as well. So why are God Rays muddying up my screen again, filling the air with stupid blocks of light and waves of wiggly air and sticking white blocks all over the edge of my character, mere minutes after I start the game God Rays free?? How can these damn things even exist when all the ini files turn them off?? That not supposed to be possible.. is it? And perhaps more importantly, why on God Rays' green earth is Beth's Da making this incredibly awful graphic effect mandatory?? Surely it cannot be just because they have some sort of a deal with the Graphics company that made that Spook Vault Mod/Quest that just happens to depend on God Rays running.. surely no gaming company could be that stupid.. Maybe they're running some new-fangled digitized subliminal advertising scheme that uses the God Rays effect as cover.. Then again, maybe this is all due to my running Windows 10.. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated. (Other than get rid of Win 10. I agree its a good suggestion, but I'm currently without an income. --- Addendum: Ran a non-exit-save game with GR off in the launcher and internet disconnected and the game ran without GR for the duration of the session - about 6 hours. Suspect there may be a God Rays reset in the exit-save file. Either way, I'll be playing off line from now on and avoiding Beth's Exit Saves. --- Smokin! Gonna complain here more often! In 4 days, I got 3 Win10 'Updates' and 3 'Steam' updates, and Godrays are no longer mandatory!! Yay! Who sez surveillance can't be beneficial eh! This lovely wee bit of tweakness works again. And I thank you once again. Endorsing. --- ![]() Fallout 4’s Far Harbor expansion is pretty anime with its island of misfit Synths and deep-seated mysteries. But one modder decided it isn’t anime enough and took matters into their own hands.

Nexus Mods user Hiyokomod created the AnimeRace Nanakochan mod, which adds anime-style characters to Fallout 4, after being disappointed with how the mechanic and synth expert Kasumi Nakano appears in Far Harbor’s questline. You first learn about Nakano by hearing her voice over the radio. She’s animated and bubbly, but also grappling with some heavy existential crises. Once you meet her though, she’s just as grim and mannequin-looking as most of the other character models that tend to populate Bethesda’s open worlds. “I was absorbed in her and went to see her in a hurry. I was so excited that I even forgot that the game I was playing was Bethesda,” Hiyokomod, whose first language isn’t English, wrote using a translation tool. “I was in despair when I met Kasumi. At the same time, I realized that my ideal Kasumi could not exist in this world. I had to choose between quitting the game or creating my ideal Kasumi.” ![]() Hiyokomod decided on the latter and so created the AnimeRace Nanokochan mod. Rather than just change how Nakano appears in the game, the mod adds an entire race of anime people. It even adds tools for players to create their own anime player character. It’s a bizarre addition to the game that makes its strange, futuristic setting both more charming and more disconcerting. On a thematic level though, it also sort of works: Nakano’s whole storyline is about an island where Synths, the game’s race of beleaguered, self-aware androids, have taken refuge, and her residual doubts about her own humanity. Turning her into a youthful anime girl heightens that emotional turmoil. As a bonus, it makes Fallout 4 look like a Japanese role-playing game, which I’ve always felt like it was meant to be.
